Poem SILENT VOICES
Silent voices seldom heard
Hang upon unspoken words
Walking down the streets of fear
Crying out yet no one hears
Begging for help without a sound
Searching for faith that’s never found
Rarely making their own choices
Broken are these silent voices
Silent voices seldom heard
Stripped of freedom, caged like birds
Are stricken dumbfound day by day.
They’re running out of things to say.
Recalling a comfortable past
Heading towards ruin fast
Compressed down to echoed noises
Broken are these silent voices
Silent voices seldom heard
Share opinions not referred
To ears that refuse to hear
About what the voices share
Whispers spread like rushing pools
Those of thinkers and those of fools
Murmurs gradually die down
Solemn faces take on frowns
Silent voices can be heard
Hopeful though their vision’s blurred
For the punisher won’t cease to seek
Anyone who dares to speak
Grievous and fatal harm
Awaits those drawn by danger’s charm
Rarely making their own choices
Anxious are these silent voices
Silent voices can be heard
Mad with their emotions stirred
Drowned in fear and choked with fright
They still see the distant light
Once all has been said and done
They know they'll have their day in the sun
They shall not be echoed noises
Anxious are these silent voices
Silent voices can be heard
On a mission undeterred
Silent voices soon will shout
And mention what they think about
They shan't be rowdy or uncouth
But they still will speak the truth
They'll be singing they're rejoices
Anxious are the voices
